Couples Counseling
Premarital Counseling focuses on:
- What to expect in marriage
- Adjusting to new roles
- Understanding your partner on a deeper level
- Improving skills for better trust and communication
- Conflict resolution
- Other exploratory or skill building needs specific to you and your partner
Marriage is a serious commitment and takes work from both individuals to maintain. Premarital Counseling can facilitate the transition into marriage and prepare you for conflicts that arise. Acuity Psychotherapy Solutions, PLLC helps couples understand one another’s past, how their pasts affect their present, and with their histories in mind, ways to build a future together.
Marriage/Couples Counseling focuses on:
- Identifying and increasing strengths in your relationship
- Compromise and trust
- Identifying lapses in communication and introducing new skills
- Adjusting to life and/or role changes
- Addressing issues that may lead to breakup, separation, or divorce
- Other exploratory or skill building needs specific to you and your partner
Relationships require compromise, trust, and understanding. These and other skills sometimes diminish or disappear as a relationship evolves. Acuity Psychotherapy Solutions, PLLC will help couples gain insight into psychosocial stressors and their impact on the relationship and each individual. Couples will work on improving the emotional health of the relationship by focusing on strengths and learning to understand one another’s perspectives. The primary focus of couples therapy is the relationship, not the individual.
Separation, Divorce and Co-parent Counseling focuses on:
- The adjustment of children to the breakup, separation, or divorce
- Negotiating, planning, and scheduling co-parenting roles
- Minimizing potential distress of children
- Other exploratory or skill building needs specific to your situation
Stress before, during, and after a separation or divorce can strain the couple’s roles as parents. The transition from intimate partners to co-parents can create conflict that impacts children. In co-parenting counseling, individuals work together with the therapist to create an action plan and find ways for each party to compromise. Services provided by Acuity Psychotherapy Solutions, PLLC do not take the place of legal assistance that may also be necessary during this time.
